Join Jerry LaMonte every Thursday night starting January 17th, 2019 at 7pm for an opportunity to grow in your ability to understand, interpret and apply the Bible. Space is limited to twelve people on a first-come, first-serve basis, and the class runs for about twelve weeks17
Life happens. And on Tuesday mornings at 10:30am a group of compassionate people gather to learn what God is doing in the lives of one another through prayer, study and a lot of laughter. Any adult is welcome regardless of their experiences with faith or their knowledge of the bible. Consider yourself officially invited to be inspired.
Much love,
All of us here at Baleville

We felt a need in their lives for a small group as a way to bring lives closer to Christ. Hebrews 10: 24-25 talks about community:

And let us consider how to stir up one another to love and good works, not neglecting to meet together, as is the habit of some, but encouraging one another, and all the more as you see the Day drawing near.

Our group had a very successful first session and have decided to continue with a new study!  We will shift our focus to parenting with bi-monthly meetings that will run until January 2017.  Hulda Fischer will run discussion around a book called “Losing It” by Luke Gilkerson which takes a gospel centered approach to parenting when our children make us angry.  POD begins with new members on September 22nd! Our church will be providing childcare for parents and we look forward to restarting this fall.

We can’t change the fact that we are getting older – and indeed we are blessed to be able to do so compared to the alternative! Growth in years brings many gifts. We are seeking to establish opportunities to share those gifts with others. Life expectancy over recent centuries has stretched, but Biblical truths reveal that human nature has not changed. We recognize that wisdom does not automatically come with age. We can, however, get wiser as we get older if we draw on the eternal wisdom of God and reflect upon His word.
We are often challenged in growing our faith and fulfilling our responsibilities outside the limitations of Sunday’s hour of worship. We need to acknowledge that we cannot grow spiritually without connecting relationally with others. Our family units provide an initial foundation for such growth, but the richness and rewards of Christian relationships are destined to reach beyond immediate family.
Small groups provide for this growth; extending beyond the family yet with a less intimidating environment than engaging the entire congregation. It allows us to connect with others, to be aware of their needs and concerns while drawing on the strength, experience and wisdom of the collective group.

In some respects, we as OWLS have already paid our dues. We have worked hard and provided for our families. Now as we are transitioning to the next non-career stage of life, new challenges arise. Some of us are there already, some are approaching this stage, and some of us have already been there for a while. Health, financial concerns or constraints, and relationships within our families are issues that concern us now.

In a small group sharing, caring and praying for one another will be our focus, looking to God as our leader.

We invite you to join the OWLS as we continue the rest of our journey — aging with focus on Faith, Fellowship and Fun.
